Assistant Ice Tech Course (AIT)
This course is for new or existing volunteer Ice Technicians looking to gain knowledge about making and maintaining ice at their local facility.
Curling Canada and its Member Associations are committed to providing education for individuals serving their curling centres as Ice Technicians. The training supports everything from daily maintenance to installing ice for major competitions, helping create the best possible playing environment.
Event Details
- Who: Bill Butts, Nova Scotia’s Head Ice Technician
- Where: Curl Bridgewater
- When: Sunday, October 25, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- What to bring: On-ice gear, warm clothing, and an iPad, tablet, or laptop. Course materials are online.
- Registration: $125 through Curling I/O
Ice Technician Training Program
Curling Canada’s Ice Technician Training Program has Curling Centre and Competition streams. The Curling Centre stream includes:
- Assistant Curling Ice Technician
- Curling Ice Technician
The Competition stream includes the Competition Ice Technician and Chief / Deputy Ice Technician programs.
If you are not part of a Nova Scotia Curling member club, you will be contacted to pay an additional $125 fee.
Withdrawals and Refunds
If NS Curling cancels or reschedules the course, registered participants may choose a full refund or apply their registration fee toward a future course.
If a participant cancels seven days or more before the course date, a refund will be issued and may be subject to an administrative fee of up to 20% of the registration fee, at NS Curling’s discretion. No refund will be provided for cancellations less than seven days before the course unless otherwise approved by NS Curling.
